TEAM NANCY WINS BIG

WITH CHARITY POKER TOURNAMENT!

Chris W gets bumped in 7th place

Angelus Recovering from the fall

Poker for a cause, there is no better reason to play. This tournament was a great example of people coming together to help raise money for the American Cancer Society.

We all have been impacted by this disease, a family member, maybe a friend or just a news story that touched you in a way that made you realize whats important. From Mesothelioma to Breast cancer we have all seen what this disease can do and how it can effect a family.

Christina and Joe T, who's Mom died last January 13th only after 5 months of finding out she had cancer ran a great tournament. I'm sure Mom was watching and proud of them as they continued to raise money for this worthy cause.

Christina Started Team Nancy (named after her Mother) to participate in Relay for life this year in a joint effort to raise money for a cure and to help families that have been effected by cancer. They have had nothing but total support from everyone and want to thank all of their family and friends who have stood by them and offered their support, time, and help in fundraising that has included candy sales, the poker tournament and a car wash scheduled for June 6th in East Hartford. 100% of the all these proceeds went directly to the American Cancer Society.

Also thanks to Roma's Restaurant in East Hartford for their help with the food and their donation.

Now when I was leaving I noticed quite a few dirty cars, so lets make plans to show our support again and stop by for a car wash next month. $5 for a good cause is a good deal. Lets make it a success!

Now for the Poker.

37 players all took a shot but only 5 get the cash. I have played with several of you in the room and can tell there were some very strong players at this tournament. It took a few rounds to get used to the chip denominations but soon after that the small stacks started to get sent to the rail.

The black chip (Or Cannonball as it was called on my table) made its appearance very early, it put quite a bit of pressure on players in the early rounds. Everyone was hanging on, everyone was doing their best not to be first one eliminated. I don't know who ended up being "that guy" but I'm sure he had more than his fair share of snacks while watching. Once he was out, players loosened up and we narrowed it down to two tables.

Herb took a bad loss with AK against a pair of 6's. After that loss he was short stacked and pushed a few hands later with his own pair of 6's only to get bounced just outside the final 9 players.

With 9 remaining they started dropping fast. Just outside the Money was Chris W in 7th and Javier as the Bubble boy in 6th after yours truly sent him and his A-3 off suit packing.

Then there were 5. Marc C., Jason G., and Cory F., Steve R. and Dave N.

I was first to go. I decided to push at what ended up being a horrific time. I bluff all in and get called with Quad 5's.......That's four fives!! OUCH! Well, I'm out in 5th.

Steve R. was Next. 4th place finish and $150 ain't bad.

The final three chopped the winnings from there, Marc C. had the chip lead and decided to split the winnings. $550 each.

The moment everyone remembers outside of getting knocked out was when Angelus literally fell off his chair to the amusement of the entire room. Some think he was a hair inebriated but he swears he was just excited about bluffing someone off a hand. Ill post a poll on the site to see what the consensus is.

A great time was had by all. I for one, am looking forward to the next one! Let us know and we can notify everyone here on the details (to a point). Also, if you or anyone you know would like to have your game, league, or tournament tracked here please notify us at nowik68@gmail.com.

I want to thank Christina and Joe T again for a great time and I wish them all the best with their future fund raising. Also, thanks to the players for a great tournament, I hope to play with all of you again, Christina and Joe appreciate you helping make this event a success.

See you all at the car wash!
