Its On!

Let it Begin.

The first annual East vs West Poker showdown is upon us and the trash talking has begun before we have even been formally introduced to each other.

I was notified that I will not be held liable for defamation or slander so lets get to the chase.

Lets get underway.

I have been told that some on the west team are a legal savvy bunch of players. With a few ambulance chasers on the East team I can tell you that understanding the complex legal system and playing poker are two vastly different things.

While you may be able to convince a jury that McDonald's coffee should never be hot enough to burn its a whole different story in attempting to push a good player off a hand.

The East team has a few Left leaning, Tort Reform opponents that prove you can practice law and win but its not related.

Any reference to ambulance chasing, Tort reform or Lawsuits against McDonald's for coffee that is too hot in no way reflect the

quality of work(Coughbullshitcough) or dedication that the majority of attorneys have when taking on a case.

Lets use Josh as an example. I decent player that has has some success in the past on the felt. 2008 was a good year for our East team captain but 2009 was better in litigation results than in poker. The two just don't do well hand in hand.

Dan Schwartz comes in as the West Captain. I have never had the pleasure of meeting Mr Schwartz but he has curiously heard of me. I am sure the news of my high end poker skills have extended far and wide but west of the river? I can only assume that the west team will be shooting for yours truly come Friday. This of course is not new. I'm sure they have watched from afar, waiting for the day to be sitting in the same tournament and maybe the same table with someone with this poker pedigree. I of course will be just another face in the crowd. I fellow tournament player trying to earn those all important points for my team.

Fridays event

28 players, Two Teams. One goal

Over the past 2 weeks or so, Josh and Dan have hammered out the ground rules with hundreds of emails for Fridays event. Not everyone will be thrilled with all aspects of the format but I think we have come to a pretty good compromise and it looks to be a great time. I'm sure the backlog at Pullman & Comley LLC. will be caught up next week after the event is through.

Without knowing the caliber of players in the West I still have to put the East as the favorite. I am comfortable with saying that the East showcases some of the best poker players I have played with. That includes many tournaments at the Mohegan Sun and the WPT events at Foxwoods. Now the west may prove me wrong but that has not happened since 1977. I swore that Darth Vader could not be Luke's father and was wrong.

We have placed quite of bit of faith in Scott when it comes to the menu. My post tournament blog will address the result.

As the big day gets closer I look forward to meeting some new players and playing some poker. I for one will be there around 5:30 - 6:00. I will be offering my usually pointers and casual banter throughout the evening. I can guarantee that Ill offend at least a couple people so if your thin skinned please make sure your make that obvious early and Ill place your name on my "douchbag without a sense of humor" list. then there is no chance I hurt your little feelings.

Lets all plan on having some fun and maybe do this again.

See you all on Friday. You can buy me a beer, a cigar and maybe even gather poker knowledge as I spin some poker yarns.

I will break the mystery. The reason why I know so much about your poker skills is:

"David, I AM your father! Come to the Dark Side."

And as long as we can watch the Yankees game and see Jeter try to break the record, all will be good.
