Are you ready for some football????!!!!!

Its here folks. The 2009 NFL season is upon us and fantasy leagues are gearing up for the long hard season ahead.
While Many of us prepare for our drafts, Printing cheat sheets, Buying books and listening to the so called experts, we all still have the poker itch to scratch. September brings with it the final chance for some players to make that desperate move up the leader board and if not make the top 9 at least get close enough to make it in come October or November.

3 Games left. Not a whole lot of time to sit back and hope to sneak in. Its time to play. Everyone with their name on the standing still has a chance to make it in. The lower you are the more difficult but its still mathematically possible.

Some of you need a bunch of wins and shows. Others need to just make the final table a few times and still others just need to keep ahead of the guy behind you in the top 9.

These are the guys just outside of the promise land.

This select group of players have the opportunity of joining the elite in the top nine come September. Now months ago I pretty much wrote off Matt and Josh due to their horrid play. Their monthly showings were more amusement for the group then a threat or real competition. That has all changed. They have both stated that they now are playing for real and said they have re doubled their efforts to play at their best going forward. Can they make me eat my words? Prove that Uptheodds.com is not as in the know as they think? Only time will tell.

The top 9 by no means are sitting pretty either.

Aaron is a sneeze away from hosting a December poker tournament he cant play in. With no "best hair" votes he has to wonder how Kyle is ahead in tournament and hair points.

Javier after winning back to back polls is sitting in a vicarious spot. 2 points separate him from a hearty December welcome to see you in January. Our next poll will have to be something like "who looks more Norwegian", Just to make sure Javier does not have upper hand.

Steve D and Yours truly only have a 5 point cushion. Steve Being a heck of a player and yours truly the odds on favorite every month I feel comfortable but still will be tested.

Steve Frank and Chris W have a nice cushion but a few no shows or bad months and they can have November become a do or die month with lots of pressure.

Scott and Kyle still sit above everyone. Looking down their noses at the rest of us. They both should feel very comfortable with their positions. By no means set in stone but it would have to be the perfect storm to unseat one of them, let alone both.

Were do you sit?

10th - 18th have a great chance to make it up the board

19th - 23rd are still in it but need at least a win, a second place showing and a strong third tournament.

24th - 41st are on life support. over next 3 months you must have at least 2 wins, Some of you have to win all 3.

Still, the months tournaments give everyone the opportunity to make some cash and that invaluable playing experience.

As Aaron contemplates the next date we all wait with baited breath. New questions will arise this month.

Will Big Frank ask for a recount on "best hair"?

Will Josh Make another quiet appearance and make the chalk board?

Can Ray retake what he believes is his rightful position amongst the leaders?

Should Rafael get his first win will he put a doubt in the players heads on who the best Peruvian in the league really is?

Is it possible for Willis to earn more in the cash game then I make in a week?

All these questions and more are coming soon to a table near you.

So lets get out there and get our drafts behind us, watch the Dallas Cowboys devour the competition and hope our back up running back turns out to be this years diamond in the rough. After that its back to the felt.

See you in September.
