Put me in Coach

Its time for the inaugural Slow Play Saloon Head Coach review and free Basic lesson.

As the Head coach I take pride in seeing my players and students thrive in the game of poker. Over the years I have watched some go from dead money to champions and seen others falter without my guidance. I have offered my tutelage many times to everyone in the league at reasonable rates but have only had the chance to help a small portion of the group.

I understand the hesitation some of you have in taking advantage of this opportunity. You may be concerned that you will be frowned upon for taking lessons. Don't be. There are a few in the league that are very successful players due in large part of learning the game from a poker coach. I still to this day continue to learn more and more about the game, the odds and the way people play. I take a few WSOP Academy lessons a month and watch countless hours of poker online. Like a pro golfer you don't learn how to hit a golf ball while golfing. You learn on the range

The poker coach is the Golf range of poker. Some things you may learn might seem trivial. No decision in poker is ever trivial. Lets review a few things that a good coach can prepare you for.

Reading the player
Overvaluing AK
Undervaluing AK
Under betting
Over betting
Out of position
Suited connectors
Limping
Looking weak
Looking strong

Now in poker even a perfect call or fold does not ensure success. The cards are brutal and wonderful in the same hand. Someone wins, the other loses. you can have a 85% chance of winning after the flop and lose the hand. We have all be there.

Now February's game was insane. Lots of bad beats like months past but we had to deal with may other factors that normally would not be in play. Some Included

Aaron being named assistant coach
Javier's Flatulence
Page's Boyfriend was over
Peru Olympic team gets rousing ovation
Rafael strangely exited early
Scott Won
Josh played past 8pm
Frank Was a no show(vacation)
Cash game was anemic

Now while the above are bizarre, odd and just plain disgusting this just goes to show that ever month is up for grabs.

many things were considered same ole, same ole.

Matt was bumped early
Dave R was impatient
Larry was moved to a new table with $25 left
Javier Drank his weight in Imported Beer
Aaron needed to shave
Turkmenistan only sent one Olympic competitor

As we move past the winter months, Spring will arrive and summer will come and go. Some of you will have the points needed to make the big dance while most of you will fall short and create pressure come the fall games. My coaching may be the very thing you need to take the next step. I will continue extending my offer of poker lessons throughout the year. I suggest some of you take full advantage of the opportunity while it is available.

In closing I would like to congratulate Scott T for a great win. I have never seen anyone win with Jacks more than him. Well played Scott.

Javier. 2nd place aint bad. First time in the money since August 2009 I believe

Josh makes the money, Peru wins gold in Ice Hockey and Obama cuts spending are three things we will never hear going forward. Nice Bronze metal finish for our vertically challenged friend.

Everyone is still within reach of the top. March is coming. Javier is having a warm up in a few weeks. WPT returns to Foxwoods as well.
Lots of opportunities to better your game. As the coach its my responsibility to make sure your prepared. Lessons are available. Will you take advantage?
