It was billed the battle of East vs West. A competition that was to showcase the poker skills of many players from the greater Hartford area. It did not disappoint.
With 28 players taking their seats in the Hartford Club the game was on. Bragging rights where on the line and everyone (outside of Josh) brought their "A" game.
Tim Sullivan was the overall winner with Kyle Aitkin coming in a strong 2nd. The East team walked away with the most team points and the victory in the first ever east vs west showdown. As the overwhelming favorite going into the evenings event the east easily took down the over matched west team. Like the Patriots against the Raiders the outcome was never in doubt.
Lots of great play throughout the evening. We watched as players got sent to the cash game early when a straight was bested by a higher straight on the very first hand.
We watched several pairs of Aces get cracked and straights flushed away.
Thanks to Mr. Trentholm for hosting the event at the club. Everyone seemed to have a great time with Poker, billiards and beer. We are all looking forward to the highly anticipated rematch.
Some other winners included Mr Willey and Josh in the cash game, J Little won the sit and go, I took second and Matt third.
Other Tournament Stats
Least Hands played has to go the Mo Chadha from the west. An hour late and out quick in both tourneys left him little time to see many cards. Blamed on a golf tournament he will look to rebound next tournament.
Fastest out was of course Josh with one hand played in Tournament #1. He usually does twice as good and can be counted on for a hand or two more.
More drinks consumed. This is still be looked into. I cannot give an honest opinion due to too many Blue Moons and Sam Adams but Ill get back to you with results of investigation.
Most hair is a tie. Big Frank and Javier are neck and neck.
Least is a tossup between Kyle and Dan.
As I get to know the west team better I'm sure to have more comments and suggestions to share about them.
Thanks again to Dan and Josh for getting it organized and running a very good tournament. I for one am looking forward to Fridays at Aaron's house to reminisce about the big win.
This Fridays preview will be posted later this week and I hope to see you all there.
See you on the felt.
