Slow Play and the WSOP underway this week

Show me the Money!

July.....Tournament #7 of 11

As the summer slowly wears away and we start looking forward to the start of the NFL season (hopefully) we should take a count of our poker status at the SPS.

While a few things are almost certain there are a few that i think we are apt to see before the final regular tourney of the year in November. Lets take a look at some of these  items in this edition of the
"Head Coach Corner"

Some of us have the comfort of sitting high upon the leader-board, looking down their noses at the rest of the field.

Aaron, our half witted host seem to be on the same heater that Dave R was on last year. As one of my past students I could not be more proud of him.

Dave R on the other hand has zero points. Rumor has it a new love in his life may have put the poker bug on the back burner. Then again, after the embarrassing way he finished in the season ending tourney last year he may just be waiting for our memories to fade so he can return without being reminded of his donkey of the year award.

Amazing as it seams there are no Peruvians outside the top 10. I am checking with the WSOP and the WPT to see if this is a first. Both have great chance to lock up a spot but need to fight off a dozen players that can send them to the rail.

Now Joining Aaron on the "feeling comfortable" part of the leader-board are Scott T and Mark S., Both having great years.

Chris W, After a few nice finished has suddenly become a no-show for quite a few months. With 22 points he will need to attend a few more and finish high to lock up a seat. Voted "2010's Worst hair in the League" in polling, he still sits in top 10 players in points but not enough to coast into December. Consider this your invite back Chris.

Pete, Miller, Mike T and Pete are all in the same boat. Top 10 as of today but no where near enough points to sit back and relax. In my opinion only 2 of these 4 will make the final table.

From there we drop off the leader-board. Players that have had great years in the past like Frank, Kyle, Corrine and Josh are all having a rough time of it. Leading this group with a whopping 9 points is Josh. Kyle has a embarrassing 3. Now while I have offered lessons to all of these players only one has ever asked me for help. I'm extending my offer again in hopes I can help some of them in the future.
Some players just outside the top 10 include huge names like Small Wiener Willis, Spaden Adin and the Head Coach. These guys all have the tools to get to the promise land and 2 of 3 should be there in December.

Tomorrow brings July's game. Some will show, Others will make excuses, and still others will show with excuses. There will be bad calls, suck-outs, rivers, flops and the occasional inappropriate comment.

Ill be there.
