Leaving Many players bewildered the June Slow Play Saloon tourney has been canceled. Graduations, Baseball and lack of interest forced our assistant coach to pull the plug on Fridays game.
Many players were left wondering if there was enough games left to climb into the top 10. Javier stepped up to fill this Fridays spot with a non sanctioned $100 tournament in Broad Brook.
Larry and Ray have been discussing the pros and cons of having Javier's game substitute for the regular monthly game...I have yielded the decision to my assistant coach Aaron and he has made the final decision on this matter.
Javier's game will NOT count towards the Slow Play Saloon Points.
Now while some of you may not agree with this decision, it is final. Aaron has consulted with myself and we believe that to be fair to everyone the next sanctioned game will be in July.
Players just outside the top 10 will feel this is unfair but all players will play have the opportunity to play the same amount of games as the rest of the group. If it ends up being 10 then so be it. One month may short change some players that miss the December game by a hair but you still have plenty of months to make your move. Big points for this Friday were not guaranteed. You still needed to play your best to earn them.
I for one will not be able to make the scheduled date in July. I have a wedding to attend and this means I will miss 2 tournament months in a row. A Blogger intern will be necessary. I'm accepting applications.
Missing two tournaments in a row would decimate the chances of most players but Mr Nowik is not most players. As a highly ranked Poker legend he can weather the missed tournaments. An example would be that if He did not played at all this year he would still only be one point behind Dan K, 2 behind Willis and a mere 6 behind Big Frank.
My next sanctioned tournament may not be until August....Still I believe my placement in the top 10 is more than assured.
Others may not be so lucky. Dan K was mentioned. If there was a WSOSD (world series of scotch drinkers) he might have more than one point to show for his troubles.
Farther up the list sits Rafael. 2009 Tournament of Champions winner and Nowik protege. 7 Points is all that keeps him from another shot and a chance of a back to back December wins. A missed month should not effect him too much but fall is 3 months away. Not much time to make a move. One good month and hes right back in it.
When it comes to Matt its irrelevant. He will grind his way up the leader board, complaining the whole way then falter at years end. He is pokers Ole Faithful.
Larry, The suck out kid is living on the edge. He sits on the leader board with a very slim 3 point edge. He is a sneeze away from being on the outside looking in.
Arron is sitting one point better and may get the idea of canceling every tournament for rest of year just to make December tourney.
Pete and Javier and getting more comfortable with the limited number of games left on schedule.
Kyle still in 2nd...month 19 and counting
Dave R could give a rats ass. He could play blind and win.
Ill be at Javiers tomorrow night for the Peruvian Open. Joran Vander sloot recently played in a Peruvian poker tournament and that seemed to work out for almost everyone.
