Javier Hosts local Poker event!
World series of Peru (WSOP)
The word spread from Lima to Iquitos. The excitement built last Saturday as some of the best America has to offer and a few illegals came together to fight for Paxis WSOP circuit event championship.
A double header with lots or great action and more suck outs than I have ever seen in my long and storied poker career. Steve, Pete and Myself were on the wrong end of the river over and over again Saturday. We welcomed a few new players as well as the return of some regulars to the game.
We watched several chip leads evaporate and short stacks fight back to make the cash. The night included more than a few full houses and a straight flush shocked table #1 in the first Tournament.
Some things were not surprising:
Dan K drank
Frank Ate
Pete left mad
Matt sucked
Now these are not surprising statistics as they are very common. Some of the new guys and gals will learn that somethings are a given every tournament. I am told that a few of the new players are thinking about attending Aaron's this month. I'm sure we will all welcome them in and I will apologize up front for any disparaging comments they may be subjected to during the tournament. All in good fun so be ready.
Big Frank won game #1 by taking out the new guy Victor heads up. Javier came in 3rd in both tournaments. 2 Bronze medals. 2 more than Peru won in 2010 Olympics.
Tourney #2 ended at 3:30 am. Raul and Willey fell asleep at the table so Javier put an even amount of cash in each of their pockets, Shut the lights and went to bed. At least that's the story I'm sticking with. Raul did have a chip lead heads up but a deal was made and an even split it was.
All in all a great night. Good Company, Good poker (outside of Matt) and good food.
We are less that 8 days away from the big March Tourney and Foxwoods is having their Poker Classic starting tomorrow 3/12/2010 and running through the 3/28/2010 main event final table and no limit specials.
Not for the faint of heart this is a great time to play with some of the best (and Worse) players in the area. Javier, Rafael and myself will be attending and hope to see some of you there.
As for now we will see some of you Friday the 19th. The rest of you soon enough.
