The snow keeps coming and Rafael keeps winning.
After an amazing end to 2010, Rafael made a statement in January. Announcing to the league that his back to back tournament of champions wins were no fluke.
He's for real. Coached by one of the best in the game, he is the man to beat in 2011. Taking the January tournament does not lock up his seat for a run at a three-peat but as of right now he is far and away the best non coach player in the room.
Willis, Miller and Frank L finished right behind them last month but were miles away in game.
Willis taking 2nd place gave him a nice cash out but still cost him plenty by not making it into his cash cow, the cash game.
The February game is scheduled for the 18th. Again I will mention that we are down to only 10 more chances to get the elusive points needed to play in December.
Some of you are off to terrible starts. Some of you had some bad luck. Some didn't show. And still others just plain suck at poker. If you need to know what group you are in please email me and Ill let you know. Ill extend an offer for discounted lessons to those interested.
Believe it or not its only 6 week before spring. Summer then fly's by. Fall leaves only a few tournaments to get some needed points then its over again. Last year I heard quite a few of you saying "ill make it" and "no problem, Ill be there" as early as last March.
There were a few self described "best player" in the room that did not make it. Some well educated lawyer types that sat home in December and still more of you that did not play well enough, often enough or smart enough to earn enough points for the invitation.
Ill be watching all of you this year. Ill also be posting my observations and comments here throughout the season.
If you would like to become a contributor to the site please email me a posting you would like to see on the site and Ill pass it by our board of editors in New York.
